Kate Lastoskie
Seattle, WA

Currently at SITE1, building best-in-class tools for CRE2 and REITs3. I love working at the intersection of design and engineering, creating products that look great and run well under the hood.

Passionate about photography, fashion, and fermenting just about everything.

Previously led a data science team at Boeing4 focused on fleet risk monitoring.

Sr. Technical Product Manager Jan 2025 - Now

Joined a Series A startup to build new products with computer vision. We’re helping a small team deliver engineering assessments at scale.

Lead Data Scientist Nov 2023 - Jan 2025

Led a team of 10 analyzing flight data. Changed how we worked, cutting delivery times by 25%.

Data Scientist Aug 2022 - Nov 2023

LLMs went mainstream, so we used them to build a tool that drafts safety reports, saving engineers 2,500 hours a year.

Engineer (Rotational Program) Aug 2020 - Aug 2022

Got to work across 4 different verticals. Moved into data science after building a model to classify rejected takeoffs.

Electrical Engineer Aug 2019 - Aug 2020

First job out of school. Managed software certification projects in Boeing’s largest pre-prod systems lab.

Working with Kate was one of the better experiences I've had with a PM in my decade-long career. She was absolutely the real deal: able to not only define the requirements and quality she insisted on, but implement them as well if need be. Kate is not just a bean counter who cares only about story points and Agile ceremonies. Rather, she is a no-nonsense, “I hear what you're saying, but here's why we're not doing it that way”, manager of projects that can even step in and write clean, readable, extensible code when the need arises. She valued everybody's input and had zero problem mediating and advocating for anybody whether they were C-suite or a rank-and-filer and was an invaluable voice to the projects we worked on.

Jake Cahill, Tech Lead @ TetraScience

Kate is a product manager who actually builds. When our team was stalled by the abstract logic of a new reporting tool, she used Cursor and LLMs to build us a functional prototype. That sandbox was huge for the UX team. We could click through data and see how the math worked instead of guessing. She saved us weeks of back-and-forth with Engineering, and we ultimately released a tool that customers loved. Products ship faster when a PM is technical enough to show the team exactly what's possible.

Jayne Spottswood, Lead UX Researcher @ SITE Technologies

Kate's technical acumen, business prowess, and engineering curiosity put her in the top 1% of engineers I have had on my teams. She has the unique ability to synthesize data, draw unique conclusions, and present the resulting information to executive leadership and guide their decision making. The combination of soft skills and technical skills she possesses allow her to successfully accomplish any challenge she is presented with. I am confident that Kate will continue to make valuable contributions to the industry and be an enormous asset to every company she is involved with.

Chad Douglas, Executive Director @ Boeing

I worked with Kate on an internal program to evaluate aircraft operational safety using in-service data. As the Product Owner, Kate did a fantastic job managing relationships and expectations between the various groups involved, including executive leaders, data scientists, engineers, and pilots. Her creation of standardized workflows helped mature the program to meet objectives in a repeatable way. The standards also allowed for program growth by eliminating the overhead spent on determining next steps in an analysis. Kate actively participated in code reviews, as well, offering her technical domain and analytics expertise. She was a pleasure to work with, and I hope to get the opportunity to work on projects with her in the future!

Jason Thompson, Data Engineer @ Boeing

I've worked with Kate on multiple high-impact ML projects, and she's one of the most capable engineers I've ever worked with. She's well-versed in machine learning, including the ML lifecycle and MLOps practices, and excels at solving complex problems with interoperable tools. Some standout contributions include developing the codebase for a patent-pending microservice to detect hallucinations in LLM outputs, directly improving safety and education applications at Boeing. She also took the initiative to teach herself web development, building a full-stack React app for our LLM-based text summarization system. This app allowed users to provide real-time feedback, which has since improved the tool's performance. Kate always comes through, delivering solutions that truly matter to the team.

Hai Nguyen, Data Scientist @ Boeing

I worked with Kate on a critical project to improve an ETL pipeline for processing safety data. She used her expertise in Python and SQL to solve complex problems for the new application. Kate is always methodical and professional in her work, and she follows up with clear and concise reports that keep everyone well-informed. It was a pleasure working with her, as she is a strong systems thinker and problem solver. She exceeded all expectations and delivered way ahead of schedule.

Mike Serafini, Sr. System Safety Engineer @ Boeing

Kate is a driven and effective product lead who brings teams together, even in the fast-paced environment of a safety program where priorities can change in an instant. She has a calm, focused leadership style that has kept our team on track through over 20 data science studies in a single year. Kate has a real gift for turning complex customer needs into clear, actionable requirements, leading to some of our most successful product decisions and feature launches. I would jump at the chance to work with her again, and any team would be lucky to have her.
